Hi all, I'm sure most of you have seen or even read the thread proposing a new list for smiley development and queries. This generated another proposal for a list dedicated to IMAP.
TBBETA isn't a particularly busy list when compared to others. I strongly feel that a lot of the annoyance the traffic is to others has a lot to do with the fact that they're having problems finding only what interests them. The only way we can help each other is with meaningful subjects. Let's look at a few randomly spotted and recently posted examples: "Another bat! wish" - this is inadequate. Please include what you're wishing in a few words. You could be wishing for a smiley enhancement. This will alert the smiley averts to ignore your wish request. "Flags" - again inadequate. What flags are being referred to here and what about them? This could be elucidated with a few additional words. This one did turn out to be smiley related. <ouch> <g> "to moderators" - again inadequate. Please include what is to the moderators. Suggestions: If your query/comment/suggestion involves a particularly topical feature. It's always good to precede your subject with that. For example an IMAP query would include: IMAP: <your query> For Smileys Smileys: or Rogue Pics: Not that I haven't seen good subjects. Here are a few: "How do I signup for smiley updates?" - there's no doubt what that is about. :) "Rogue images -- msl files no longer needed?" - great!! :) "REquest for Pushpin in the folders view" - excellent!!! <vbg> This wasn't just 'another bat wish'. So you see. We can do it. We just have to pay attention when writing those new queries. The subject is just as important as the content. :) -- -=[ :Allie: ]=- List Moderator and fellow end-user PGPKeys: http://key.ac-martin.com
