Hi all, I thought 9Val, Max and Stef would like a positive comment amidst all that has been happening.
I installed v3 without problems and IMAP has been as smooth as it ever was really. So for day to day reading, navigating, replying, syncing etc. this one is a keeper in case a beta goes wayward in the future. :) I'll do some further testing and come up with a new list of things still hanging in the balance.
