This is almost certainly the case - I suspect its an incorrectly setup
ssmtp server on this host. If you search on google for ssmtp and
_HOSTNAME_ on groups you may well find what you need to do (you just
have to set a couple of config variables). Unfortunately the box is
probably not under your control so you're at the mercy of their admins
:(
