At the moment, the sound is triggered when a mailbox is found to have messages added since the last sync operation. Since many filter server side, each folder is separately triggered. So if multiple folders have had new messages added, then the new sound will be triggered for all those folders. As a result, on initial startup the sound is very active. I don't know if the following solutions could be implemented: - make the sound be triggered only for newly added mail flagged as unread/unseen. If the newly added mail is already flagged read because they were read using another client, then the sound alert really shouldn't sound. - if multiple folders share the same sound, have the sound be triggered only once during a single sync operation to update IMAP folder counts. If the sounds are different, then sound the different alerts. - When filtering, if the target folder uses the same sound notification as the inbox, then supress the sound for that target folder when the messages are filtered to it. Of course, suggesting and implementing don't necessarily go so easily together, but something needs to be done. Currently, the sound alerts are untidy. However, it's great that they work at all. -- -= Allie =- .....
