Tony, all that I did - as an initial test - was overwrite the TB executable, launch TB, start to compose a new message (with my default microed), tested the new ability to change case on a string in that new message, discarded the new message, and then tried to exit TB. Having read the horror stories on this subject, I wanted to be sure that I could close TB before using it extensively. And my first experience was as described. This new bat just refused to go away, causing me to resort to an unaccustomed and unseemly use of force. :-) So I guess the answer is No. I never looked at or used any VFs during that brief encounter with a most unfortunate end. -- Avi Yashar Windows XP Pro and The Bat!
