Yes, I know - but this one account I only access from one location
(company account not accessible from outside the company network).

Folder 1  10
Folder 2  10

If I move a message from Folder 1 to Folder 2 it now looks like this:

Folder 1  10 <9>
Folder 2  10 <11>

- this must mean that the folders are not actually sync'ed until they're
selected.
