Dear Paul, @17-Nov-2004, 13:40 -0500 (17-Nov 18:40 UK time) Paul Van Noord [PVN] in mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] said to Peter:
>>I don't understand what you mean by this? PVN> It is necessary for me to read all the redundant messages to be PVN> certain something is new or different. It is necessary for you to read at least *one* of the messages. When the message comes from a Moderator and the first moderation message has no effect on your observance of the list rules, expect multiples. PVN> Several messages had identical "boilerplate" text. They do. They follow a formula that people can easily follow and understand, one that avoids confusion and makes it clear what we're trying to say. >>It is always voluntary participating here... :) PVN> Understood. Entirely? I, too, am self employed, and I now have to spend extra time explaining rules and theories of management to you. I am not paid to do this job and "counting the cost" applies right here, right now too. Don't get me wrong, I don't begrudge it. Just trying to keep the conversation honest. PVN> I joined to learn something after using TB! since 1998 knowing PVN> there is always something to learn. Well, please allow me to drag you back from the extreme alternative to top posting you seem to have adopted and ask you to trim to context. It's all in the list rules. It doesn't take more than 5 minutes to read them. They are based on simple rules of netiquette and are not something we invented "on-a-whim". You are quoting the entire message with no quote prefix then replying at the bottom. It comes a close second to top-posting in terms of bad form. PVN> However, if the tone is to repeat, repeat, repeat the same PVN> information Only where there is no reaction to the first application of that information (and sometimes where each moderator reacts to a single transgression simultaneously - which can happen). PVN> or make cute remarks Keeping this list free from irritants is not a trivial task nor a trivial function. When irritations persist (and most of the list rules are to stamp out irritating behaviours), you are going to get "cute" remarks from the members. PVN> I may need to unsubscribe and spend time someplace more PVN> informative. That's your choice. However there are clearly things to be learnt here about formatting replies in a way that helps the reader. So - not only did you get the direct answer to your question, you received even more help and advice about how to format reader-friendly replies. A bargain! How informative do you want it???? :-D -- Cheers -- //.arck D Pearlstone -- List moderator and fellow end user TB! v3.0.2.7 on Windows XP 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 '
