I think earlier posts identified BayesFilter, as opposed to BayesIt,
as the program that might be the problem. I am running BayesFilter on
XP with SP2; and I should stress that there was no problem when the
configuration was BF on my XP SP1.

True Paul, for some reason the folder was called TheBat2.0 no matter
what version I installed... but the program ran flawlessly.

I dread the thought of a "clean install" almost as much as the jump to
a new email program. In any case, I did try a clean install here on
the new computer; had to re-set up all the templates and settings...
or would have if the hang problem didn't rear its ugly head before I
could get all the settings in.

Thanks for the step-by-step! It is just the kind of instruction I need
if I do decide to re-install.
