How can I do what I want to do with subfilters in common filters?
Please describe. Keep in mind that once the message has been moved to
the appropriate country folder by the common folder, there is no
indication any more which account it arrived in. Well, in many cases
at least, in other cases there is the address in the TO field, but not
always so that's not reliable.

This describes that subfilters in common filters should work. I don't
think this is related to my problem.
