As long as it is optional and I am not "forced", I have no objection. To me, threadid by references means that, threading _by_ _reference_. And if a message (which appears to be a reply because of a 'Re:' in the Subject) doesn't include an In-Reply-To or References header line, it should NOT be threaded. So, as you say and to make everybody happy, maybe there should be a separate mode "References + Subject". -- Best regards, Miguel A.
