They are not 'hot-keys' and the are not 'strange'. It is a feature that
TB has always had, or at least since a long time ago. It allows you to
move to a folder by typing its name or the first few letters of it.
Typing speed must not be too slow or each character typed will start a
new 'search'. It is a feature in other applications that use folder
trees, the probably most common one is Windows Explorer.

BTW, although I hardly use it, it works here without problems.
