I don't understand what is "Folder view" and "Preview windows". The only place I use the button (but that's only the use I make) is in the main windows, with the messages list, the count list and the preview of the message focised in the message list windows. Here, the button, below the button to verify PGP sig or the sender's photo works. I have never noticed other place where the button can be viewed.
