When you say you get them on your screen, do you mean your windows desktop? I had this a LONG time ago with the first 1.x version I used a good couple of years ago, and it was the result of the "Working Directory" specified in the shortcut. Right click on the short cut, and go to Properties, under the "Short Cut" tab, take a look at the "Start In" path.
