Could you please move this MSI to the root of disk C and try again? If the 
install will fail, could you please run msiexec /l*v c:\file.log /i 
c:\thebat_professional.msi and send this log file to me?

MSI installs may not start from SUBST'ed or virtual or removable drives, it's 
better to copy them to the local disk.

Another good idea may be to upgrade Windows Installer Service to version 3.0. 
This version is included with XP SP2. Otherwise, you can download the "Windows 
Installer 3.0 Redistributable" from Microsoft Website from 
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5fbc5470-b259-4733-a914-a956122e08e8&DisplayLang=en

However, our experience shows that "Windows Installer 3.0 Redistributable" is 
not needed in most cases. That version of Windows Installer that already 
persists in Windows (1.1 or 2.0) is OK.
