least most other languages where read (as in I will read) and read (as
in  I have read) arent spelt the same. German kindly (as a whole) puts
ge in front of things to make it past tense.. I tried friench for many
years at school I dont think I ever progressed really past "My name is
Liz", "I am x years old", "its raining", "I live in" and "where is the
toilet" with recogning left, right and straight on.

Whereas  I  found  with german I could guess what they were saying far
more. Even the der, die, das sounded more natural.. french only has le
and  la..  and  Im  blowed  if  I ever got that right. I also think my
french  teach  had a crap accent as I remember stuff about cat and dog
and I couldnt tell the words apart.....
