I don't think it has anything to do with that. Read Alexanders note about searching a string with the Total Commander in the binary file. This takes less than one second. So overall speed or fragmentation of the hard drive cannot be the reason. BTW: I run TB on a Ultra160 SCSI drive with 15.000 rpm and I'm not very happy with the search speed. It's far away from 5-10 minutes per 2000 messages but the speed is poor.
