Mine came out worse that that.

Hit F7. went to folders and hit select all. This selected all my old
POP3 folders sitting around, and also my IMAP account.

Started search, went to try stop, it was greyed out, not an option.

Got search results which includes a surprisingly small number of
messages, which on further inspection are all from my IMAP folders.
Search on local POP folders apparently didn't happen. (would have been
around 150,000 messages)
