I tested it. Once you give a toolbar button a shortcut, the shortcut
works throughout the interface.

I particularly like single letter shortcuts and have been using them
quite a bit in the main interface.

I may just add the connect/disconnect options to one of the popup menus
and then assign shortcuts to those instead. The only glitch is that
they'll actually show up in the menus.

The really bad part is trying to find the commands in that main command
list on the left. It's like sifting through a maze. Most unfriendly to
the user.
