This is EXACTLY what I've been saying for the past 100 years. I have the option set to purge and compress when changing folders which should permanently delete messages flagged for deletion. But, as you quite rightly say, they are not, they are left on the server and the only way to make sure they are deleted is to select the menu entry manually.

This used to be first and foremost on my list of priorities that needed fixing until the dreaded "No message loaded" started to appear on a regular basis. The ability to delete messages seems a bit silly if you don't have the ability to read them first.

RL please take note that yet another person has provided confirmation of my original gripe.
