Because I experience this only in the office, where the folders are pretty big. Ok, first: The bigger the total folder is, the longer it takes to compress, if at least one message was deleted. Second: The more "work" TB needs to do when compressing, the more memory is used up. (This is my subjective feeling, I didn't measure this in any way. But after full maintenance on all folders, my computer becomes sluggish and I need to restart it.) Third: The more the disk is defragmented, the longer it takes. My suggestion: Degragment the disk, reboot the computer, and then purge & compress only that folder. See whether aintenance still hangs. How much memory do you have? -- Cheers, Thomas.
