I don't know if I understand you right, but I can't imagine how this
should work: on one hand you want to limit the width of the threaded
column, but on the other hand you don't want the view on that column
limited...   ;-)

Here when I enter a fixed size for that first column and have "Limit
expansion..." set to, say, 10 level, all works fine. As long as the
list fits in there I can see the topics, but after the 10th level,
they disappear underneath the next column to the right. Thats what I
told TB to do.

When I don't limit the expansion, tb expands the width of the first
column more an more with each expanded message that threads deeper.

So as far as I can see every setting does just what it promises to do.
Maybe your problem exists because you did not set a size for the first
column? Did you try this?

BTW, I used the thread mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] to
test this. It expands wonderfully...
