I think the difference is slight, the one (AFAIR) states a little more "My remembrance might be incomplete, I might have forgotten some parts/details", while the other does not limit the completeness of remembrance, but "only" correctness. But to be honest: I haven't seen 'AFAIR' yet, at least I don't remember having read it.
