I've heard other people mentioning this, but I don't notice much, if
any, performance difference.  And the IMAP counters are still
completely unpredictable, the "no message loaded" is still (randomly)
occurring every other message, and so on.

No such problems with Thunderbird, even with the so-called "unstable"
nightly builds... (which are usually more stable than "release" The
Bat! versions ;)
