Hi all, I was away for a few days and did no e-mail during that time. I therefore had over 1000 messages accumulated.
It took about 20 minutes for TB!'s connection centre to settle down so that I could go ahead and read some mail without seeing too much of the 'no message loaded' screen. Additionally, while reading, the wait times are significantly longer when there are hundreds of unread messages in multiple folders. I'm not sure why this is so, but this was my experience. Now that I've gone through the unread mail, TB! is back to its old quite snappy self again. It seems to work best when you're reasonably on top of your mail. I tried Pegasus and Eudora IMAP a couple days ago. Pegasus was identical to TB! in how it did things. However, there was more feedback on what was happening with the IMAP server. So after that experience, I came reeling back to TB!'s far superior interface since the IMAP performance was no different. Eudora was dog slow in comparison. It again works similarly to TB! in that it needs to propagate the message header list for each folder prior to being able to browse messages. It took forever to do a folder containing 3000 messages. Forget that again since it's slower and has an inferior interface/feature set. Now that Mulberry is under. I see ThunderBird as the only existing client to consider in exchange for TB! IMAP. It says a lot for TB!, but for the wrong reasons. IMAP users need an a robust client that is being actively developed. -- -= Curtis =- The Bat! v3.61.12 Echo (Beta) / http://specs.aimlink.name PGPKey: http://rsakey.aimlink.name ...Don't Take Life Seriously, It Is Not Permanent.
