Hello all,
One of the many things I do with TB with folder templates and filters
is:
On certain messages that include an email address in the message body,
like Delivery Status Notifications from postmaster or web queries, I
click on this email address to send a message that will be caught by
Outgoing filters and will add/delete this address from ABs, or
add/remove this address to some of my newsletter.
This evening I was going crazy because I was doing this from account A
and the messages were being sent by (or queued in the Outbox of) account
B.
Of course I reviewed templates, etc., and after many tests with
different versions (going back and forth several times) this is the
summary of what is happening although I can't understand why.
Test set-up:
- I have used three accounts, A, B and C.
- Used the same original message in all 3 accounts. The text of the
message was:
,----- [ ]
| This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.
| Delivery to the following recipients failed.
| [EMAIL PROTECTED]
`-----
- NO folder templates were used. So, just account default ones.
- Always used message preview pane and PTV to view the message.
- Run exactly the same tests with v3.02.10, v3.62.11 and 3.62.12
- At the same time I tested clicking on mailto URLs in IE6.
Actions performed:
Click: Single click on v3.62.11 and 3.62.12 and double in 3.02.10
Write: Right click on email address and select 'Write a Message to This
Address' from the context menu.
Test 1: Account C is default for mailto URLs, both in TB and Registry.
Versions 3.02.10 and 3.62.11
Action/Account A B C IE6
Click: A B C C
Write: C C C n/a
Version 3.62.12
Action/Account A B C IE6
Click: A A* A* A*
Write: C C C n/a
Test 2: Account B is default for mailto URLs, both in TB and Registry.
Versions 3.02.10 and 3.62.11
Action/Account A B C IE6
Click: A B C B
Write: B B B n/a
Version 3.62.12
Action/Account A B C IE6
Click: A A* A* A*
Write: B B B n/a
I hope you understand what I mean with the tables above. The top row
shows the account I was at when performing the action and the crossing
of Action/Account the actual account that was used to send the message
when performing the action.
The As with asterisk (A*) when using 3.62.12 are wrong and unexpected.
This repeated with all the test, but I must say that when I first
detected the problem last night, I was processing messages at account A
and the messages were being sent by account B. Go figure!
Can someone confirm a similar wrong behaviour with 3.62.12?
And now some questions that apply to all versions, at least to 3.02.10
and 3.62.11 plus the intermediate ones I tested, in case any of you
knows:
- Why does the 'Click:' actions use the same account you are at (the
active account) to send the messages and the 'Write:' actions use the
default account for mailto URLs?
- Shouldn't both actions use the same account, actually the account I am
at when performing the action, just the same that when I select an
address in the To or From field in the header pane?
- Further to question above, why if I view 'RFC-822 headers' and I right
click on the address of the To header line and select 'Write a Message
to This Address' the default account for mailto URLs is used but if I do
the same (like mentioned above) on the To field of the header pane the
active account (the one I'm at) is used?
Have a nice weekend :)
