For each folder I've set the columns I want, indicated how I want them listed (by date created, in my case) and selected View Threads by Reference. These settings always "stuck", until now. Now it's an adventure every time I open up a folder. Sometimes they are threaded for the first time, without my making any such setting. Sometimes they are grouped with oldest at the top, or at the bottom. It seems random. But I am experimenting now with View Modes.
