Hi Richard Wakeford, Thursday, December 15, 2005 you let us know -at least in parts- :
> Not being to well up on all these headers (I only use the ones people > tell me about) could you elucidate further and then I might stop being > one of those who doesn't have the X-mailer ID disabled as it is now! Your header is as courteous as you have always been ;) You are using "The Bat! (v3.63.12 (Beta)) Professional" it says. The header entry about the enabling or disabling of the X-mailer ID has been "subject of change without further notice" and its settings changed in the past, I don't remember when it was. At first installation this setting is either active or not, depending on the version you installed. The 1.xx series were IIRC with that option ticked. If you never uninstalled TB these settings were sticky. Later things changed, that option was unticked by default and most people didn't care about these things. Although it seems that you didn't look after your header entries you are lucky that your Bat was one of those whose settings were correct. It was spoken that the ID was cloaked by default because TB at a certain moment was under suspicion to be a mass mailer tool (don't remember the correct expression) and therefor was blocked by some ISPs. > I also see you use the Comments header and was wondering if the > processor information is done with a Macro or you had to write it in > from the System information? First, if you leave that comment field empty, it is used for ad-services by someone between your place and ours. For example in TBOT it is filled with "DomainKeys? See http://antispam.yahoo.com/domainkeys" But if you put in some text, it stays untouched. That's why I fill in some info about my machine, so others can find out more about a possible local bug. If you enable the view in your headers, you can make it visible for every mail you get. Despite there is not much changing in my configuration over the years, I fill it in by a macro: %SetHeader("Comments","Intel P4 @ 2.66GHz | 1024 MB RAM | MSI Mainboard | powering: TB v%THEBATVERSION on %WINDOWSPLATFORMNAME %WINDOWSMAJORVERSION.%WINDOWSMINORVERSION Build %WINDOWSBUILDNUMBER %WINDOWSCSDVERSION") HTH -- kind regards Charlene Ferrara mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Using The Bat! v3.63.12 (Beta) on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 2 Skype: charleneferrara ________________________________________________________ Current beta is 3.63.09 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/
