There must be a saved (auto or manual) copy in the outbox when the mail check takes place. As I had my autosave set at 20 seconds this was pretty much a given combo for me, but further testing and playing around seems to have given me an optional work-around by setting the autosave feature out of useful range. Of course, I might lose a lot of work if something happens to my message I'm editing and there's no save, but it may be better than forgetting and having a message roosting in the outbox when I thought it was sent. Anyway, if any MAPI users have some spare time and would like to test out my findings I'd appreciate any comments - if anyone can confirm I'll submit a bug report.
