Hi Simon, Friday, April 28, 2006 you let us know -possibly edited- : > I've not used this 'Chat' before though I have just tried, which > seemed to work without error - a message was send and received at the other > end.
I received about 30 chat messages from my fellow Batters, but I seem to be unable to respond the same way. > Is this a feature that allows chat between you as the sender and any > E-Mail client or does it need to be 'The Bat' at both ends? AFAIK it requires a Bat on both ends, I would have loved to see a further development in that direction, i.e. P2P-techniques implementation and more, but I can live without TB doing so. There is Skype, ICQ and many more. > Out of interest, what are the benefits of this channel of > communication over and above sending a standard E-Mail? - sorry of > that's a dumb question but looking at the help guide reveals little of > this features function and application. You send only the text you type, no quote introducer and greetings at the end, no minusminusdashenter and so on. It is much less formal, to be compared with a shoutbox in a weblog if you like. I think the development of this feature was stopped some days after implementing in into TB's code. No smileys, no further options. I will keep on using a real chat program if I fell the need for a chat. I am the only one that experienced this flaw here, so I will refrain from sending a bug report note. Once more, thank you all for trying! -- kind regards Charlene Ferrara mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Using The Bat! v3.73 Release Candidate 1 on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 2 Skype: charleneferrara ________________________________________________________ Current beta is 3.73 rc 1 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/
