I don't quite follow you. If you get a notification when there's a new
version, what more do you need? You can download it at your own
leisure. Beats manually checking whether there's a new version.

Of course there's always the option to download the latest version
automatically. That would be easier than your interactive mode.

It's not impossible that it's just me, but I think that when you
select interactive mode you should expect an interactive mode with its
annoying pop-ups.
