On a side note: You can switch the editor on the fly for individual
messages. I use MicroEd by default, but I have to reply to some
business emails in HTML, same as you. In the editor window when
composing a reply, note how there is a field at the bottom showing
which editor is in use. Right-click on it, and you can switch for this
message only.
