You mean the main program should be just basic, and every feature that
not everybody uses (IMAP or Smartbat in my case) would be an optional
module download? Or a plug-in? Like it seems to be the case with
Firefox.

Hm, not a bad idea, but it would require a change in paradigm. Unlike
you, I have no idea of the way TB is coded. Would it be possible at
all to change it without having to rewrite the whole code?
