RitLabs has been known to do typos in version numbers before. Could cite at least one, on a TBBETA announcement a long time ago. It was not a TB bug. ACK. And perhaps all the noise and the "tempest in a teapot" got the attention of whoever is responsible for maintaining the "Alert" messages so that they remain accurate.
