I have bee using the same template for years. Never a problem. Now people are complaining that my .sig delimiter is broken.
Looking at the template I can see that they are correct; the trailing space has gone. So, I put it in and save it. Create a new message and lo! it's gone again. So, I create a new message (this one), I 'fix' the delimiter by adding the trailing space. There is no evidence (in the MicroEd editor that I'm using) that the space is there.
