Found the problem. The Google Desktop Indexing plugin was causing the
problem. I didn't know that the Gooogle Desktop Indexing add-in for
The Bat! installed a plugin in The Bat! as well as in Google Desktop.

Anyway, now that I removed that plugin from The Bat!, everything works
perfectly well.
