I therefore downloaded 4.0.0.2 and tried to install RP> it over 3.99.29 but got error message similar to the ones shown in the .jpg RP> file attached, but none of these 'errors' seem to be really there! I RP> effectively removed the existing thebat.exe file by renaming it and then the RP> 4.0.0.2 download installed without a problem.

I have now cured the problem! I had TB set to load minimised when my computer starts. It seems that even when I subsequently shut down TB the registry (or wherever else WinRAR looks) still showed TB as running and hence the error messages. By not not asking TB to load when my computer starts and then restarting my computer, WinRAR subsequently installed TB without error. I have since reverted to the original settings and installation still works OK.
