Hello Greg, > BTW if you ever want to go back and try VA then take a look at > http://www.virtual-access.org/. :)
No thank you, I don't think so. I think since it became open source it has progressed very little. > I must admit VA was way ahead of it time. IMHO it was a marketing > mistake which created the problem as well as the demise of CIS. Kind > of goes back to before the Internet became popular to the general > public. Doesn't seem so long ago, but I guess time flies. :) It certainly was the best and most powerful then. And yes, perhaps ahead of its time. I am quite sure that if development had continued it would now be way ahead of many other clients including TB. But that's life. Actually, I am quite satisfied with TB and just miss a few things from VA. The one I missed most at first was handling newsgroups with the same client, but I solved this with the MyGate plugin for TB and it just works flawlessly. Although not very often I also missed some tines the capability VA had to handle two languages simultaneously (Spanish and English in my case), but that has been introduce in v4 now. The other features I still miss are: Ignoring threads, Bookmarks and, perhaps the most, Toolbar Macros. If you recall, for those repetitive actions we all do, that require a sequence of several keyboard shortcuts (or selecting a sequence of menu entries) you could assign that sequence to a custom toolbar button and the sequence would be executed every time you clicked on it. Yes, I do miss toolbar macros. When TB's Customiser was in development I hoped they would include something like that. But no, they didn't. And remember it had the option to select Full or Short menus? It is not that I miss that one myself, I'm just mentioning it in case RIT guys are 'listening' ;-) -- Best regards, Miguel A.
