Really? – I never was aware of that, but anyway my question was *not*
if this feature has always been there or if other programs have that
feature, too.

I just want to know what the purpose of this icon is and why it is
clickable, but without any effect. – For me it is a useless and
needless icon, which is a waste of status bar space.

Who can enlighten me?
