I haven't observed that as yet, but I'll write a couple of lines. Then
I alter some text and reformat the whole with alt+L, let's see! Ok, a
little more text is needed, maybe a colon too - here it comes: doesn't
it look cute?

It doesn't seem to do it here. I tried two alterations in the above
paragraph that changed the line length. No extra spaces occurred.
