I am not sure with which version this started, but using The Bat! 4.0.20.5 I find that clicking a mailto link opens up a window all right asking me what account I want to use, and what the password is, but this window opens minimalized in the task bar where I often don't notice it so I keep hitting the mailto link, producing many minimalized windows.
