I tried to define other View Modes in Options-Preferences-Messages-View Modes and got an Access Violation Error Message. I had to kill TheBat! - seems a problem with the file config.cdb indeed. So I renamed the file and started TheBat again - the "build in" View Modes are set now - and it seems that they are working when clicking on them in the Preferences Menu of Folders.
