Thanks for the information and advice, Hendrik. If I understand correctly, you are saying that I should have reverted to the previous msi file rather than trying to install 4.0.38 - or 4.0.36 - over my 4.0.34.8 version. But I don't see why that would be a problem. I think that the new message base index format began after 4.0.34.8. Because I have not beta tested after 4.0.34.8 - sorry, far too busy this last few months - I have never used a version of TB that prompts me for any message base conversion (or presumably does that without my knowledge). -- jaywalker Windows XP Pro SP3 The Bat!
