I use Zone Alarm for the fire wall. Have disabled ZA and checked with no luck.

I can also ping to the ISP's server through out. FTP & HTTP downloads work just
fine. I have been down loading MP3 songs whole day. (while researching) this
problem.

AL> Does POP (or IMAP) works well for servers inside net?!

I cannot really confirm this but the ISP provides for his own e-mail box (pop)
and the problem exists when I try to down load from this server also.

I would have agreed if the problem were with downloads in general. But what I
have narrowed is that the problem surfaces under the following condidtions

1 E-Mail larger than 15 k (Approx)
2. When I use the broad band connection only.

All mails to this account (used for groups like TBUDL/TBTECH) have been
downloading well.

I too recall this and did a quick search but did not find the messages. Will
checkout again.

PP> What exactly does happen if you try to download a mail larger than

The connection starts. In fact if there a small mail ahead of a larger mail, then
the small sized mail gets downloaded, then depending on the mail 10-30% of the
larger sized mail also gets downloaded.

When I used outlook it gave me a time out error as follows

"A time-out occurred while communicating with the server. Account:
'mail.kaladyinc.com', Server: 'mail.kaladyinc.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110,
Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19"

Yes I am connected via ethernet. I did not check on the light of the NIC will do
so now. Unfortunately as I switched on the machine in the morning the connection
seems to be down and now using dial up.

PP> What if you try to surf while downloading? Does this work or is there some general
PP> network congestion/blocking?

As is evident from http://www.mailmejobs.com/conc.jpg I have waited for as much
as 7 hours...during this time I have continued surfing and downloading w/o any
problems.

Also I was able to investigate further by visiting my neighbour who also uses
the same ISP (broadband) and was successfully able to download messages
irrespective of size. The ISP also provides for dial up access and when I use
this method the download is successful.

There also does not seem to be a problem sending large sized mails. Cause I have
been testing by sending out mails to various servers and then trying to down
load. I use ADR as my local SMTP.

Will work on this in the mean time.

Thanks for the efforts.

ps: Another unrelated problem but could provide clues is that when I click on
any URL (in an e-mail message or on a web page) the browser return 'Page
unavilable' - However when I refresh page is shown properly.
