yes, but seeing the options in the Network and Administration form, I
assume that TB is supposed to cope with unattended mail retrieval. But
if I tell it to auto-connect, and disconnect when done, then I think
it's just common sense that NO dialog box should be permanent and keep
the connection alive.

There's a common design gadget in more and more programs: a dialog box
with a countdown, that assumes you want to cancel when the count gets
to zero.

I have certain accounts with very tight size limits and a lot of
traffic, that need to be emptied at least twice a day to avoid lost
messages.

It started to collect mail when it was cheap, it just got a bit longer
than what I thought. And I got home late today :)
