Hello tbtechies,
I am running into a problem with messages posted by AOHellr's &
Netscape mail (so far). The attachments are posted 'inline' and with
a filename of part-0123456.tmp. The files are actually *.jpg files,
which I normally have extracted to a specific folder (for each group
or list I am a member of). The problem is, I need a way to have TB!
AUTOMATICALLY extract these files to said folder(s) and CHANGE the
filename to an extension of .jpg. No matter what I have tried, TB!
will NOT _recognize_ and extract these files automatically!
The embedded the HTML code for these attachments (actually inline images)
is:
------=_Part_2122047_14885485.1088497285198
Content-Type: image/jpeg; name=part-57703.tmp
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
Content-Disposition: inline; filename=part-57703.tmp
Is there a solution or workaround for this vexing problem?? If I can
have TB! just SAVE these files, I can invoke an external renaming
batch file to handle the file extension change. The problem is I have
been UNABLE to have TB! save these attached files automatically. The
HTML (YUCK!) version correctly displays these files AS JPG's. I still
can't do anything but MANUALLY save and change the file's extension
with each e-mail. This is impractical with 250-300 of them arriving in
35 filtered folders daily. I have gotten to the point where I don't
even READ these messages anymore, as they are exclusively JUST file
attachments. I just review the stored attachments on a semi-weekly
basis.
Of note also, _FORWARDING_ such a message _DOES NOT_ include the
part-xxxxxx.tmp files, so a forwarded message of this type also
becomes basically useless!
I realize this is not actually a TB! problem, that is if TB! isn't
supposed to deal with the changing formats used by a major segment of
the online population! It is rather a CHANGE in the 'standard' of how
attached files are sent by a specific (and GROWING) segment of the
cyber population! I'd say 30 million users is a significant portion
of the population, wouldn't you??
