I finally had time this morning to try your suggestions, and, lo and
behold, none of my folders was any longer keeping me from deleting
emails. Somehow, it managed to fix itself. I have no idea how - even a
couple days, and a number of boots on the computer, after trying your
first solution, the Bat! was still keeping me from deleting in some
folders. But today, it has stopped doing so.
