Hi TBTECH'ers,

I've been reading these posts on how IMAP can do some interesting
things when accessing email from different computers. I wanted to look
into this but I can't find a step by step guide or overview on how
to go about things. As a beginner I'm clueless and these are the kinds
of things that come to my mind:

* What do I need? Do I need an ISP that offers IMAP accounts?
* What if my ISP does not have IMAP, could I forward all my email
from the POP account to an IMAP account on another ISP?
* Can I install an IMAP server on one of my home computers and have it
retrieve all the email I have on several of my POP accounts?
* Could I then access all my email from my local IMAP server from
different computers? Is this a good idea/setup?
* How would using IMAP impact the way I backup email?
* I don't have SSL/TLS with my current POP accounts, would IMAP add this
or is it independent?
* What are the practical limitations of The Bat! when it comes to
supporting IMAP?
* What potential problems can I anticipate with The Bat!

My requirements are typical of a home user wanting to read emails from
a desktop and wireless laptop while at home or on the road from
several current POP accounts (business and personal).
