I have on several occasions (including, just recently, "copying" my TB user directories and settings over to a new Win 7 desktop from my not-so-new Win 7 laptop) used the backup/restore functionality with complete success. Obviously, YMMV... These procedures were originally done with V.2.04.7, and have since (maybe the last 5 years or so) been done with V.4.2.44.2. [I still miss using ol' V.2.04.7, though... <sniff>] I do have to say that, many years ago, with V.2.04.7, I did try incremental (i.e., "create an update to an existing archive") backups for a short time (it seemed like a nice idea) and did get flaky results, but I since then (for about the last 14 years now, I think) I have used the complete (i.e., "standard") method with complete success. I routinely make two backups - one backup of just my settings and address book, and one a complete backup - every couple of months or so, just for safety's sake. However, when I set up a new installation of a new PC, I make a fresh pair of backups just before "restoring" TB on the new PC.
