Quoted text is displayed differently from "normal" text. Look at
Options|Editor setup - you can change this behavior.
If the whole message is rendered in bold and it is not quoted (there
is no ">" character in every line), then look at Options|XLAT tables
may be something is not setup correctly there?

Ctrl+* to expand all threads, there is no shortcut to collapse them
back. Ctrl+Plus/Ctrl+Minus to expand/collapse the current thread.

RightClick (or Alt+F10), then look at "Threads" submenu item.
