It  is  because,  the  way  auto-format has been implemented, TB demands
*two*  newlines  to  denote  a  separation  of paragraphs. Without that.
everything just gets hauled back together.

I  just  use  the  Ctrl-Shift-F  toggle  to  turn  it off when I need to
continue on the next line without making it part of the same paragraph.

I'm not saying that it's right, it's just the way it is. :-)
